Barming Primary School Case Study

Barming is a primary school of 400 children that prides itself on offering children the opportunity to succeed both academically and beyond the formal curriculum. In order to achieve this a suitable network was required and we came in to offer their extensive services to provide this. We surveyed their site as well as their needs and budget in order to access suitable solutions.

Requirement

Coverage throughout the school with the ability for 60 devices to log on to the network concurrently. With the potential for future expansion. The solution would need to be easy to manage and be competitively priced.

Solution

Using Aruba’s custom network planner we were able to produce a detailed computer model of the school to plan the hardware needed to provide sufficient speed and capacity while remaining in budget. We decided on a network of Aruba Instant Access Point 93s which provide full distributed wireless coverage with the ability to handover connected devices from oversubscribed AP93s to more available ones.

Aruba Instant virtual controller gives all the advantages of a control unit but without a dedicated device which significantly reduces implementation cost while allowing all the advantages of a managed network without the risks of a central point of failure, increasing resilience.
